Michelle Gottschlich

Michelle is a poet, freelance writer and transcriptionist, and MFA candidate in poetry at the University of Virginia. She is the author of two books of poetry VOID SETS and How To Keep Full in February (Monster House Press, 2014, 2017), and the recipient of a Mackenzie Fellowship from Taleamor Park. Her poems have appeared in Canvas Creative Arts Magazine, Driftless, Monster House Press, Poetry Quarterly, SOIL, and elsewhere.

From 2017-2018, she co-founded and co-curated Monster House Presents, a grant-funded reading & event series in Bloomington, Indiana that showcased emerging and established poets, writers, and artists from across the US. From 2012 to 2017, she co-founded and co-ran The Second Sunday Poetry Open Mic (formerly First Friday) event series: a monthly, free and all ages open mic night.

Michelle has led several free, all ages creative writing workshops in partnership with Monster House Press, Rhinos Youth Center, and the City of Bloomington.

Michelle has worked professionally in audio transcription, copy-editing, grant writing, journalism, outreach, editing, and technical writing for Cardinal Spirits, Indiana University Writers' Conference, Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing, The Limestone Post, Monster House Press, Winspear Record Label & Artist Management, and others.

She is home to Indiana.
